Susan’s career spans more than 30 years and includes experience as a journalist, ghost writer, copywriter and author.

Highlights

  • Susan writes fiction under the name Susan Bacon. Her debut novel, The History Teacher, was recognized with a 2020 Independent Book Publisher (IPPY) Award. The audiobook came out in March 2024. And her new novel is slated for release in June.

  • As a ghost writer, Susan has developed successful book proposals and worked with authors under contract to major publishers. Her ghostwriting credits include an international bestseller.

  • A former journalist, she began her career at Memphis magazine, has done reporting for Time and Fortune, and has contributed  feature stories to the Washington Post.

  • In the ‘90s, Susan wrote (or co-wrote) two books on the politics of parenting—including Are Our Kids All Right?, a Parents’ Choice selection—and appeared in major media, including NBC's Today Show.

  • She is a graduate of Barnard College with a degree in history and studied with Richard Bausch in his Moss Workshop in Fiction in 2009.
